What stick length is right for my daughter or son?
Generally speaking, the stick should be just below the hip bone. Here are some guidelines. There is NO left handed stick.
Player Height Stick Length
- Up to 4′ 28″
- 4’1″- 4’3″ 30″
- 4’4″ – 4’6″ 32″
- 4’7″- 5″ 34″
- 5’1″ and up 35″
Recommendations on the composition of sticks from US Field Hockey:
Beginner – wood or up to 25% carbon
Intermediate or beginner over 12 years old – 25% – 40% carbon
Advanced (2-3 years of experience) 40%-75% carbon
Sticks should be replaced when the player outgrows the stick or every other year if a high school player.
Don’t forget to write your name on your stick. You don’t want to lose it! And buy a ball when you buy a stick so you can practice at home.
